Diana Villalpando is an assistant coach for the Portland State volleyball program, entering her second season in the role in 2025 and her third year overall on staff. A former standout student-athlete for the Vikings, she returned to her alma mater bringing both championship experience and a strong background in program development. In her first season back, Villalpando played a key role in player development, helping guide Carisa Barron to Big Sky Top Newcomer honors while contributing to the continued growth of the program’s competitive and fan engagement success.
Villalpando’s coaching résumé includes impactful stops at multiple levels. She spent several years at Corban University, where she helped the indoor program reach five NAIA National Tournament appearances, including a national runner-up finish in 2022, while also leading the beach volleyball program to a national championship that same year. She later served as Director of Volleyball at Multnomah University, launching its beach program and leading the indoor team. As a player at Portland State, Villalpando was part of multiple Big Sky championship teams and NCAA Tournament appearances, finishing her career with over 1,000 digs and establishing herself among the program’s all-time contributors. Her combined experience as a championship player and accomplished coach continues to shape her impact on the Vikings’ staff.
