Diana Martinez
Assistant Coach
Diana Martinez joined the Loyola University Maryland women’s basketball staff in June 2023 as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Prior to her arrival in Baltimore, Martinez honed her craft at the collegiate level as Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Chicago State University, where she helped lead the program to its first-ever win over a Big Ten or Power Five opponent and guided multiple players to Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honors.
Before her Division I coaching roles, Martinez built a highly successful high school coaching career in Virginia. She was twice named Virginia State Coach of the Year while at Highland School (Warrenton, VA), leading the Hawks to a state championship in 2019 and a state runner-up finish in 2021, along with multiple conference and regular-season titles. Her earlier head-coaching tenure at Unity Reed (formerly Stonewall Jackson) High School produced five district championships, two regional titles, and numerous NCAA Division I signees. Her coaching journey also included roles at the junior-college and NAIA levels, where she developed seven NCAA-Division I scholarship players. Academically, Martinez holds a B.A. in Psychology from St. Andrew’s University (2007), an M.Ed. from Central Methodist University (2010) and a Master of Teaching in Special Education from Liberty University (2017). At Loyola, Martinez’s combined expertise in recruiting, player development, academic integration and program building positions her as a key contributor to the Greyhounds women’s basketball program.
