Deven Hunter returned to Oregon State University in 2021 as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program, bringing with her a strong connection to the Beavers as a former standout player. In her role, she works primarily with post players, contributes to scouting reports, and plays an active part in organizing the program’s camps. Hunter has quickly made an impact on player development, helping mold several of Oregon State’s top frontcourt athletes into all-conference performers. Her work has been instrumental in the growth of players such as Kelsey Rees, Raegan Beers, and Timea Gardiner, all of whom earned conference honors during her tenure, contributing to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and a run to the Elite Eight.
Before returning to Corvallis, Hunter served as a graduate assistant at the University of San Diego, where she helped guide the Toreros to a strong record and a conference championship game appearance. Her coaching foundation also includes time at McNary High School, where she worked both as a basketball coach and in special education. As a player at Oregon State from 2012 to 2016, Hunter was a key contributor during one of the most successful eras in program history, including a Final Four run in 2016. She started 132 of 135 career games and ranked among the program’s top rebounders. Following her collegiate career, she played professionally overseas in Puerto Rico and Finland, further enriching her basketball experience and perspective.
