Dempsey McGuigan serves as Assistant Coach - Throws for University of Mississippi's Track and Field/Cross Country program in University, Mississippi. Dempsey McGuigan enters his eighth year on staff with Ole Miss track & field in 2025-26, his 11th as a part of the program, and his third as an assistant coach working alongside head coach Connie Price-Smith and throws coach John Smith. Since 2024, McGuigan has joined forces with Smith to win four NCAA titles and 11 SEC titles, with an incredible 80 NCAA points and 213 SEC points scored in those two seasons.
McGuigan has worked in multiple capacities with the Rebel track & field program, serving as a graduate manager from 2020-22, an undergraduate manager from 2018-20, a volunteer coach in 2018, and he served as interim throws coach during the 2022 outdoor campaign. McGuigan has mentored under two of the top throws coaches worldwide in Ole Miss' John Smith and his childhood hammer coach Alan Bertram of Scotland, who coached more than 70 UK hammer champions across various age groups throughout his career.
