DeMarlo Slocum is a veteran Division I men’s basketball coach with more than 20 years of experience, currently serving as an assistant coach at the University of Washington under head coach Danny Sprinkle. Since joining the Huskies’ staff, Slocum has contributed to player development, recruiting, and overall program culture. Recognized by Silver Waves Media as one of the top 100 most impactful high-major assistant coaches, he brings a reputation for strong recruiting ties and a deep understanding of building competitive teams. His experience spans multiple conferences and programs, adding valuable perspective to Washington’s coaching staff.
Prior to his time in Seattle, Slocum spent two separate stints at the University of Utah totaling 11 seasons, where he helped guide the program to consistent postseason success, including NCAA Tournament appearances and a Sweet Sixteen run. He also coached at UNLV, helping his hometown program achieve one of its best conference finishes in over a decade, and contributed to program turnarounds at Colorado State and Idaho. Earlier in his career, Slocum worked at USC and began coaching as a graduate assistant at Georgia Southern before leading a high school program in Las Vegas. A former collegiate player at Dixie State and Georgia Southern, he has also been instrumental in recruiting and developing NBA talent, including first-round draft picks such as Delon Wright and Kyle Kuzma.
