Deke Adams became the defensive ends coach for the West Virginia football program in Morgantown, West Virginia, in February 2026, arriving with nearly 30 years of coaching experience, including 19 seasons at the FBS level.
Before joining West Virginia, Adams spent four seasons at Arkansas as defensive line coach and defensive run game coordinator. During his time there, the Razorbacks earned two bowl victories, and the 2022 defense set a school record with 42 sacks, with the defensive line accounting for 22 of them. Arkansas also produced three Southeastern Conference all-league defensive linemen under his watch. In 2024, the team finished among the nation's top 40 in rushing defense and third-down defense, and one of his linemen led the team in tackles and sacks while becoming the program's highest-drafted defensive lineman since 2007. In 2023, Arkansas allowed 357.2 yards per game, its lowest average since 2014, while another of his linemen earned first-team all-conference honors after leading the team in tackles for loss and sacks.
