Dayna Smith is an assistant coach for the University of Massachusetts Amherst women's basketball team in Amherst, Massachusetts, entering the 2026-27 season in her third year on the staff and her second as an assistant coach after serving as director of player development in 2024-25.
In 2025-26, Smith was part of a UMass team that finished the regular season 23-6 and went 15-3 in conference play, earning the No. 3 seed in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Minutewomen reached 20 wins for the first time since 2022-23. Massachusetts also ranked among the national top 70 in several categories, including assists per game, assist-to-steal ratio, steals per game, turnovers forced per game and three-point percentage defense. Within the MAC, UMass led the league in opponent three-point percentage and ranked near the top in scoring defense, assists, assist-to-turnover ratio, scoring margin, opponent field goal percentage, steals and blocked shots.
