David Woodrum
Head Coach
David Woodrum is the Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he leads both the men’s and women’s golf programs in NCAA Division II competition as part of the Sunshine State Conference. He joined the Tritons’ staff in August 2023 and, as of the 2025-26 season, is in his third year at the helm. In his first season, Woodrum guided standout performances on both sides: the women’s squad achieved just the second NCAA South Region appearance in program history, highlighted by Sandra Eriksson’s tie for 13th and multiple top-20 finishes, while the team set a program record for lowest three-round score. The women also won the William J. Mathews Academic Excellence Award for team GPA success. On the men’s side, Woodrum coached Josh DiZinno to a win at the Saint Anselm Florida Invite, marking Eckerd’s first individual win since at least the 2009-10 season. In the 2024-25 season, his women’s competitors Melissa Ball and Sandra Eriksson both advanced to the NCAA Tournament, a program first for two individuals in one year, and the women’s team finished ranked No. 32 nationally. His men’s side also saw Reggie Fear selected for the NCAA Tournament and garner All-SSC and GCAA All-Freshman honors.
Before Eckerd, Woodrum coached at Davis & Elkins College (WV) during the 2022-23 season, earning Golf Coaches Association of America Atlantic Region Coach of the Year after leading the men’s team to the NCAA National Championships and winning both the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional and Mountain East Conference titles. Prior to that, he served as head coach of both men’s and women’s golf at his alma mater, Bluefield State University, where he directed the men’s team to a USCAA National Championship in 2021 and launched the women’s program in 2020. As a student-athlete at Bluefield State, Woodrum enjoyed a successful collegiate career, capturing a USCAA National Championship and earning second-team All-American honors in 2017. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Bluefield State, earned in 2017.
