David Johnson
Assistant Coach
David Johnson joined the Auburn men’s golf program as an assistant coach in July 2025, bringing more than two decades of competitive playing experience to one of the nation’s premier collegiate programs. A former professional golfer and accomplished collegiate standout, Johnson reunites with head coach Nick Clinard, whom he played for at UCF from 2007–09. During his time with the Knights, he earned All-Conference USA honors twice and was named the 2008 Conference USA Newcomer of the Year, helping establish himself as one of the league’s top competitors.
Prior to UCF, Johnson competed at Eastern Florida State College, where he won six tournaments and earned two NJCAA All-America honors. Beyond college, he was named the 2008 Florida State Golf Association Player of the Year and claimed the 2008 Florida Match Play Championship. Johnson went on to compete professionally on the Asian Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamérica, gaining international experience at the highest levels of the sport. A native of Melbourne, Florida, Johnson steps into the role following the retirement of longtime coach Buddy Alexander. He and his wife, Kristy, have a daughter, Paisley, and are expecting a son, Danny.
