David Castellanos is the head men's soccer coach at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a position he assumed in January 2024 as the program's eighth head coach. In his first season, he led Drexel to a 9-6-2 record and a 5-2-1 mark in conference play as the Dragons finished second in the CAA, earned a fifth straight berth in the conference tournament, and hosted the quarterfinals and semifinals at Vidas Field. Drexel also defeated No. 14 Hofstra, 5-4, for the program's first win over a ranked opponent since 2012. Patrick Short, whom Castellanos coached in his graduate season, was named the CAA's Co-Midfielder of the Year and earned Academic All-America recognition, while Short and Dominick Bachstein were both selected to the CAA First Team.
Castellanos returned to Drexel after spending a year as head coach at Chestnut Hill, where he coached two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference all-conference selections. Before that, he was part of Drexel's men's soccer staff under Michael Marchiano and worked in the program's daily operations during a period that included three consecutive trips to the CAA semifinals, a first in school history. Those Drexel teams also produced two CAA Players of the Year, seven all-conference honorees, a CSC Academic All-American, and the program's second Major League Soccer SuperDraft pick.
