Before joining Washington, Adkins built a strong reputation in the NBA, serving as Director of Player Development for the Denver Nuggets and their G League affiliate, as well as holding roles with the Portland Trail Blazers and Washington Wizards. He worked closely with elite players such as Bradley Beal and John Wall, contributing to their development at the professional level. His earlier coaching career included positions with the Los Angeles Clippers organization and significant success at the high school level, where he helped develop future NBA stars including Kevin Durant.
