Dario di Fazio
Head Diving Coach
Dario di Fazio is a seasoned diving coach and former elite competitor currently serving as the Head Diving Coach for the University of Miami Hurricanes swimming and diving program. Entering his second season as head coach in 2025–26, di Fazio quickly established himself as a leader of excellence in collegiate diving following his promotion from long-time assistant coach in 2024. In his first season at the helm, he earned the 2025 ACC Women’s Diving Coach of the Year honor after guiding Chiara Pellacani to an individual 1-meter national championship and helping Miami divers earn multiple NCAA All-America distinctions. Under his leadership, both the women’s and men’s diving teams have continued to thrive at the conference and national levels.
A former Venezuelan Olympian and accomplished competitor, di Fazio brings decades of high-performance diving experience to Miami. Before becoming head coach, he was a foundational figure in the program for nearly three decades, serving as assistant coach and as head coach of Miami Diving, one of the nation’s premier club diving programs. Throughout his coaching career, di Fazio has helped develop numerous national champions and Olympians, including co-coaching Olympic silver medalist Sam Dorman at the 2016 Rio Games. As an athlete, he represented Venezuela at both the 1992 and 1996 Olympics and was a multiple national and South American diving champion. His reputation in the sport was further recognized when he was named among the Top 100 Greatest Men’s Swimmers & Divers by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.
