Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Darin Minniefield, a native of Houston, Texas, began his role as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) after being hired in September 2025. He prepped at Bellaire High School in Houston and built his early coaching foundation in the Texas AAU circuit, working with the Houston Defenders and under the tutelage of veteran coach and former NBA guard John Lucas II. Prior to joining EMCC, Minniefield spent two seasons in SEC collegiate programs: as a graduate assistant at the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball program where his staff reached the NCAA Sweet 16, and at the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball program.
His playing career included a freshman season at Peru State College (2015-16) and three years as a starting point guard at Our Lady of the Lake University where he earned all-conference honorable mention honors. Minniefield holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology (2021) and is pursuing a master’s in adult and lifelong learning. He brings a background in recruiting, player development, team operations and film/video support, positioning him to contribute strongly to EMCC’s basketball program as assist coach focusing on operations, player growth and game-analysis support.
