Dan Wodicka
Head Coach of Football
Dan Wodicka, a 2014 Johns Hopkins graduate and former standout wide receiver for the Blue Jays, was named the 28th head football coach in Johns Hopkins history on February 1, 2024. In his inaugural season at the helm in 2024, Wodicka guided the Blue Jays to a 12–2 record, clinching the school’s 17th Centennial Conference title and advancing to the NCAA Division III Semifinals—marking one of the most successful single seasons in program history.
Wodicka’s association with Hopkins spans over a decade, including his years as a player and as a coach. As a receiver, he earned First Team All-Centennial honors in 2011 and 2012, and second team in 2013, finishing his playing career with 260 receptions (a program record) for 3,148 yards and 16 touchdowns. On the coaching side, he has held multiple roles with the Blue Jays: wide receivers coach (2014–2015), special teams and defensive line coach (2019–2021), and defensive coordinator (2022–2023). Under his leadership as defensive coordinator, Hopkins’ defenses ranked nationally in rushing defense, scoring defense, and interceptions per season. His prior experience also includes stints at Northern Michigan (running backs, video coordinator) and Williams College (wide receivers / tight ends). He holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins. Outside of coaching, Wodicka resides in Baltimore with his wife, Maria, and their daughter, Wynnie.
