Dan Meske is the Dan and Maria Durbin Head Volleyball Coach at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, a position he assumed for the 2025 season after being hired on January 31, 2025. He became the eighth head coach in program history following eight seasons as Louisville's associate head coach. In his first season leading the Cardinals, Louisville went 26-7 and reached the NCAA regional semifinal, extending the program's run of national relevance. The 2025 team was one of the nation's best defensive groups, finishing first nationally in total blocks and second in blocks per set, while also holding opponents to a .173 hitting percentage. Louisville also ranked among the national leaders in offense, posting a .270 team hitting percentage, and several players earned all-region, all-conference, and All-America recognition.
Meske's promotion followed a highly successful 2017-24 stretch on Louisville's staff. During those eight seasons as associate head coach, the Cardinals compiled a record of 208-41 and advanced from a consistent NCAA Tournament team to a national contender. Louisville reached the NCAA tournament every year in that span, including trips to the Elite Eight in 2019 and 2023, the Sweet Sixteen in 2020, and the national semifinals in 2021. The program then reached the NCAA championship match in both 2022 and 2024. Louisville also won four ACC titles during Meske's tenure on the staff, and his work was recognized nationally in 2022 when he received the AVCA National Assistant Coach of the Year award, becoming the first male recipient of that honor.
