Dan Leidl
Head Coach
Dan Leidl, a 1997 Drew University graduate and former standout student-athlete, enters his fifth season as head coach of the Rangers’ men’s lacrosse program in 2026. Since taking over in 2021, he has led a significant resurgence, guiding Drew to multiple 10-win seasons and consecutive Landmark Conference Championship appearances. In 2025, he was named Landmark Conference Men’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year after directing the Rangers to a 10–7 record and a third-place finish in conference play — the program’s highest Landmark win total ever and its first repeat postseason appearance since 2005–10. Under his leadership, Drew has produced All-Conference honorees, a Rookie of the Year, and a USILA All-American while earning its first postseason home game since 2012.
Leidl brings extensive collegiate, international, and professional experience to the role. A former MAC Player of the Year at Drew, he played professionally in the National Lacrosse League and represented the United States at the 2003 World Indoor Championships, earning a bronze medal. He also competed in multiple FIL World Championships with the Irish National Team and later served as head coach of Ireland’s women’s national team. His collegiate coaching résumé includes roles at Stevens Institute of Technology, LIU C.W. Post, Colby College, and Tufts University. Beyond lacrosse, Leidl has worked in leadership development, co-authored the book Team Turnarounds: A Playbook for Transforming Underperforming Teams, and holds advanced degrees in child development, counseling, and sport psychology. He was inducted into the Drew University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022.
