Dan Buehring
Head Coach
Dan Buehring is the second head coach in the history of the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball program, having accepted the position in January 2021. In a short period of time, Buehring has established Stevens as a national powerhouse. In just his third season at the helm, he led the Ducks to their second national championship in program history in 2023, defeating North Central (Ill.) while posting a program-record 35–3 overall record. That season also included a MAC Championship and the program finishing ranked No. 1 in the final AVCA poll. For his efforts, Buehring was named AVCA East Region Coach of the Year and MAC Coach of the Year.
Buehring made an immediate impact upon arrival at Stevens, guiding the Ducks to a 10–4 record in his first abbreviated season and then to a 30–4 mark and NCAA Championship semifinal appearance in his first full year. Prior to Stevens, he spent seven seasons as head coach at Benedictine University, where he founded the men’s volleyball program in 2014 and built it into a nationally ranked contender, compiling an 89–47 record and earning NACC Coach of the Year honors in 2018. Before Benedictine, Buehring served as an assistant women’s volleyball coach at Loyola University Chicago and the University of Illinois Chicago. As a student-athlete, he played at California Baptist University, winning NAIA National Championships in 2006 and 2007, and later competed professionally on the AVP Tour from 2010–2018, ranking among the top 50 beach volleyball players in the country for four consecutive seasons.
