Damon Wilson
Head Coach
Damon Wilson is an experienced American college football coach currently serving as the head football coach at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was appointed the 23rd head coach in June 2022, bringing a strong record of program-building and leadership to the Bears’ football program. Prior to joining Morgan State, Wilson spent 13 seasons as the head coach at Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland, where his teams captured multiple Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association titles and made several NCAA Division II playoff appearances. His deep roots in the sport began as an All-CIAA Conference tight end at Bowie State, and after graduating he transitioned immediately into coaching, starting as a running backs coach and special teams coordinator and steadily rising through the ranks.
At Morgan State, Wilson has focused on revitalizing the Bears, leading them to marked improvements, including key conference honors and a balanced 6-6 overall record in 2024 — the most wins since the program’s 2014 MEAC co-championship season. He combines his competitive drive with an emphasis on academic achievement and character development among his student-athletes. Wilson’s coaching résumé is complemented by numerous professional accolades, including conference and national recognition earned during his tenure at Bowie State, and his commitment to mentoring players to success on and off the field. He is known for developing talent that advances to professional opportunities and for fostering a culture rooted in discipline, resilience, and community engagement.
