Craig Stewart is the head coach of the Providence College men's soccer program in Providence, Rhode Island, and the source states that he entered his 14th season in charge of the Friars as the fourth head coach in school history. Across 16 seasons as a collegiate head coach, including three at Franklin Pierce before returning to Providence, he compiled a 178-90-39 record and guided his teams to nine NCAA Tournament appearances.
Stewart's recent Providence teams continued to reach the postseason. In 2024, the Friars finished 13-6-3 overall and 7-2-2 in BIG EAST play, shared the BIG EAST East Division regular-season title, reached the league semifinal round for the ninth time under Stewart, advanced to a seventh conference championship match during his tenure, and earned an NCAA Tournament berth. Providence beat Bucknell in the opening round at Chapey Field before falling to Clemson in the second round. The team placed five players on the All-BIG EAST teams, three earned United Soccer Coaches All-East Region recognition, and goalkeeper Lukas Burns was selected by Portland Timbers FC in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. In 2023, Providence finished second in the BIG EAST East Division, posted an 8-6-3 record, made another BIG EAST semifinal, and again produced five All-BIG EAST selections and three all-region honorees. Brendan McSorley was later chosen by St. Louis CITY SC in the MLS SuperDraft.
