Cory Sanders is the defensive coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh football program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, entering his ninth season with the Panthers in 2026 after being promoted to the position on December 28, 2025. He spent his first eight seasons at Pitt working with the secondary, including the safeties, and added assistant head coach duties before the 2024 season.
Sanders helped oversee a productive run for Pitt's safeties. In 2025, Cruce Brookins received honorable mention All-ACC recognition in his first year as a starter. Donovan McMillon earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2024 after leading Pitt in tackles for a second straight season, and Javon McIntyre put together consecutive years with at least 50 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss, a rare mark for a Pitt defensive back over the past two decades. Sanders also coached a group of Pitt safeties that included NFL-caliber players such as McMillon, Erick Hallett II, Brandon Hill, and Damar Hamlin.
