Corey Williams
Assistant Coach
Corey Williams is in his third season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Auburn University, bringing more than two decades of coaching experience and a championship pedigree as a former NBA player. In his first two seasons on the Plains, Auburn posted a 59-14 record, won both the SEC Tournament and SEC Regular Season Championship, and advanced to the program’s second Final Four in 2025. The Tigers set a school record with 32 wins in a single season, earned the NCAA Tournament’s overall No. 1 seed, and held the nation’s top ranking for eight consecutive weeks.
Prior to Auburn, Williams served as an assistant coach and interim head coach at Texas Tech, helping guide the Red Raiders to an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance and an undefeated 18-0 home record during the 2021-22 season. He also spent two seasons at Arkansas, contributing to a 45-19 record and an Elite Eight run in 2021, and six seasons as head coach at Stetson. Earlier in his career, Williams was an assistant at Florida State and Oral Roberts, playing key roles in recruiting and program development.
A former standout point guard at Oklahoma State, Williams scored 1,320 career points and led the Cowboys to consecutive NCAA Sweet 16 appearances. He was selected in the second round of the 1992 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls and earned an NBA championship ring as part of the 1993 title team. Williams later played professionally in the NBA, CBA, and overseas before transitioning into coaching. He and his wife, Nicole, have two children, Jourdan and Corey Jr., who is a member of the Auburn basketball team.
