Connor McCool is the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Pittsburgh gymnastics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In his first season at Pitt, he worked with the Panthers' vault lineup as it improved over the course of the year, including a season-best 49.075 against West Virginia and Illinois State on March 15. Freshmen Lailah Green and Layla Bobek each posted career-high 9.850s in that meet, and Pitt also turned in a strong vault showing at Elevate the Stage, where Bobek, Kennedy Duke, Makenzie Grant, and Olivia Giunta all scored 9.825.
Before joining Pitt, McCool was part of an Illinois staff that reached the NCAA Finals and placed fourth at the Big Ten Championship in 2025. That season, Illinois finished No. 1 nationally on vault, and the athletes he trained earned four All-America honors. He also assisted with operations and recruiting and traveled with Brandon Dang, the 2025 Big Ten Specialist of the Year and a Senior National Team member, to the Cairo World Cup.
