Chuck Pitts is an experienced soccer coach with a varied background at the collegiate, club, and high school levels. He joined the Western Washington University men’s soccer coaching staff in March 2023 after serving as an assistant coach at Claremont‑Mudd‑Scripps College in 2022. Prior to that role, Pitts was an assistant coach at Marymount California University, where he helped guide the program to qualification for the NAIA national tournament. At the high school level, he contributed to Redondo Union High School’s 2022 CIF Southern Section Championship and a 17‑6‑2 record, and previously oversaw back‑to‑back undefeated seasons as part of the JV coaching staff at Brentwood School in 2017–18. Pitts has also worked with youth players through Beach Futbol Club in Manhattan Beach, organizing training and daily team operations for multiple age groups.
Before beginning his coaching career, Pitts was a standout collegiate player at Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt) from 2011 to 2015, where he led the Lumberjacks in goals scored his junior and senior seasons and earned First Team All‑CCAA and NSCAA All‑Region honors while serving as team captain. After graduating with a degree in communication, he played for the Puget Sound Gunners FC in the PDL in 2015 and then for the L.A. Wolves in the UPSL from 2016 to 2018, where he twice finished as the team’s top scorer and helped the Wolves win the 2017 USPL National Championship along with state and regional amateur cups. A native of Manhattan Beach, California, Pitts brings both playing and coaching experience to his role with the Vikings.
