Chris Walker
Head Coach
Chris Walker has served as the head coach of the University of North Alabama women’s soccer program since 2013 and completed his 12th season in 2024, becoming the longest-tenured head coach in program history. Entering his 13th season in 2025, Walker holds a 97-96-24 overall record at UNA, including a strong 53-38-9 mark at home. Under his leadership, the Lions reached the ASUN Conference Tournament championship matches in 2018 and 2023. The 2018 appearance came during UNA’s first season competing in Division I and the ASUN, while the 2023 squad posted an 11-5-6 record and advanced to the title match after defeating Queens and top-seeded Lipscomb before falling in a penalty shootout. In November 2023, Walker signed a contract extension through 2025, with options executed to extend his tenure through at least 2026 and add an option for 2027.
Prior to the Division I transition, Walker guided the Lions to significant Division II success, including Gulf South Conference regular-season and tournament championships in 2015 and NCAA South Regional appearances in 2014, 2015, and 2017. He was named the 2014 Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year after leading UNA to a 14-4-1 record. Before arriving in Florence, Walker served as an assistant coach at Lee University, helping the program capture back-to-back NAIA National Championships in 2010 and 2011. A former Lee men’s soccer captain and three-time all-conference selection, Walker also held coaching roles at Tennessee Tech and Westfields Soccer Club. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lee and a master’s degree in education from Tennessee Tech. Walker is married to former Lee soccer player Tiffany Cox Walker, and they have a son, Benjamin.
