Christina Walker is an assistant coach for William & Mary field hockey in Williamsburg, Virginia. She joined the Tribe staff in May 2024 and brought extensive college and international experience to the program. Before arriving at William & Mary, Walker spent nine years as head coach at Virginia Wesleyan, where she led the Marlins to two ODAC Tournament appearances and coached 19 All-ODAC selections along with three NFHCA National All-Academic Team honorees. At Virginia Wesleyan, Walker helped the program make significant strides. In 2015, she led the Marlins to the ODAC Tournament for the first time. A year later, the team posted its best conference record since 2011 by going 4-4 in league play and winning seven games overall. Her teams also won seven games in 2013, 2016, and 2017, showing consistent competitiveness within the conference. Before taking over at Virginia Wesleyan, Walker spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Wake Forest, where she helped guide the Demon Deacons to four NCAA Tournament appearances and two national semifinal runs. Walker has also built a strong reputation on the national development circuit. She served as a Futures site head coach from 2008 to 2012 and as site director in Winston-Salem from 2009 to 2011, while also coaching the U16 NFCs in 2010.
She coached the FDIC camp in 2011 for elite USA high school players, a camp sanctioned by United States Field Hockey, and in 2015 was invited to coach an AAU Junior Olympics team. Her international coaching experience includes work with USAAI teams in Australia, England, and Scotland. She attended the Coaches Forum in 2012 and 2014, became a Futures Certified Coach in 2005, and holds a Level 2 coaching certification from U.S. Hockey. Walker also remained active as a player at a high level. In 2022, she was selected for the USA Masters Women’s World Cup Team, where she earned Golden Glove honors as the top goalkeeper in the tournament while helping the team finish fifth in the world. As a collegiate player, Walker was a four-year goalkeeper at Maryland and helped the Terrapins win back-to-back national championships in 2005 and 2006 along with the 2005 ACC title. She was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2006. Walker earned her undergraduate degree in public and community health from Maryland and later completed a master of arts in liberal studies at Wake Forest in 2011. She also owns Back of the Net Field Hockey, LLC.
