Chris Sause
Associate Head Coach
Chris Sause is the Associate Head Coach for the men’s basketball program at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) in Pembroke, North Carolina. He was officially promoted to the Associate Head Coach position in April 2025 after completing his third season with the Braves, and enters the 2025-26 season in that role. A native of Durham, North Carolina, Sause came to UNCP with collegiate coaching experience at multiple institutions. He previously held an assistant coaching role at Wingate University during the 2021-22 season and served as an assistant at Averett University beginning prior to the 2018-19 season, helping the program to a 20-7 record in 2020-21 in the USA South Conference.
As a student-athlete, Chris played at North Carolina Wesleyan College from 2015-19, where he appeared in 95 games, served three seasons as captain, and helped the team post a 68-win span including a 43-18 record against USA South Conference opponents. He graduated in 2019 with bachelor’s degrees in business administration and organizational administration, and completed graduate coursework in business administration in 2020. At UNCP he is recognized for his strong recruiting skills, X’s & O’s acumen, and player-development focus—attributes that contributed to his elevation within the coaching staff.
