Chris Lorenti is the defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach for the University of Rhode Island football program in Kingston, Rhode Island. He joined the staff in February 2020 as inside linebackers coach and was elevated to defensive coordinator before the 2023 season. He entered his sixth season with the program in 2025.
Rhode Island's defense reached a high point in 2024, when the team won the CAA Football title and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship as the No. 10 seed. That season, the unit produced multiple All-CAA selections, and outside linebacker A.J. Pena was recognized as a first-team All-American by the Associated Press. Since Lorenti arrived at Rhode Island, 11 different defensive players have received all-conference honors, including four repeat selections. In each of his first five seasons in Kingston, one of his inside linebackers led the team in tackles.
