Assistant Coach
Christopher Omar Dominguez is a former professional baseball player and current assistant coach for the University of Miami Hurricanes baseball program. A Miami native, Dominguez rejoined the Hurricanes’ coaching staff prior to the 2025 season after serving as head coach at Bellarmine University for the past three years. He previously worked as an assistant coach at Miami during the 2021 campaign, helping guide the team’s hitters and infielders and contributing to a season that saw the Hurricanes compete in the NCAA Tournament. His return brings both collegiate coaching experience and professional insight back to Coral Gables as part of head coach J.D. Arteaga’s staff.
Dominguez enjoyed a standout collegiate career at the University of Louisville, where he was a two-time All-American and earned Big East Player of the Year honors before being drafted in the third round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants. Over an 11-year professional career (2009–2019), he played more than 1,000 games across the minor leagues and also appeared at the major-league level with both the San Francisco Giants and the Cincinnati Reds, compiling a .263 batting average with 134 home runs and 592 RBI. Known for his offensive prowess and leadership, Dominguez brings a player’s perspective and extensive hitting knowledge to Miami’s coaching staff. Off the field, he and his wife, Shannon, are parents to two children, Patrick and Murphy.
