Chris Doerr, former assistant coach at the University of Memphis, was named the head coach of the Memphis men's tennis team on June 13, 2023. Memphis staged an incredible run to claim the No. 2 seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship, going 5-1 in conference play, while securing nationally ranked wins over Yale, Rice and Tulsa to make the team's second consecutive appearance in the finals match.
