Chretien Lukusa
Associate Head Coach
Chretien Lukusa is in his second season as Associate Head Coach for the Morgan State University men’s basketball program, following three seasons as an assistant coach with the Bears. In his expanded role, Lukusa has been a key contributor to the program’s continued growth within the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. During the 2024–25 season, he helped guide Morgan State to a 14–18 overall record and a 7–7 mark in MEAC play, good for a fifth-place conference finish. The Bears advanced to the MEAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since the 2021–22 season, while also ranking among the league’s top teams statistically, finishing first in scoring and near the top in shooting efficiency. His work in player development and game preparation has supported multiple All-Conference performers, including All-MEAC First Team and national HBCU All-America honorees.
Before joining the Morgan State staff, Lukusa spent five years at Binghamton University, including three seasons as an assistant coach, building a strong foundation in recruiting, player development, and program operations. He is also a former standout student-athlete at Binghamton, where he appeared in 116 career games from 2007 to 2011, the second-most in program history. A two-year team captain and four-year letterwinner, Lukusa ranked among the program’s leaders in assists, steals, and rebounds while earning a reputation as a dependable and versatile contributor. A native of Toronto, Canada, he has remained actively involved with Canadian basketball through national team initiatives and grassroots programs. Lukusa holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in Africana Studies and a master’s degree in student affairs administration from Binghamton University. He and his wife, Avanna, are parents to two young children.
