Chester Frazier
Associate Head Coach Men’s Basketball Coach, Virginia Tech Hokies (Men’s Basketball)
Chester Frazier is a well-respected college basketball coach who rejoined Virginia Tech in April 2025 as Associate Head Coach of the men’s program. He previously held the same role at Tech during the 2019–2021 seasons, where he contributed to the development of breakout players (such as Keve Aluma) and helped engineer upset wins over nationally ranked teams. After leaving Tech, Frazier spent three seasons (2021–2024) on the staff at his alma mater, Illinois, where he aided the Illini’s run to the Elite Eight in 2024, and then served one season as Associate Head Coach at West Virginia in 2024–2025 before returning to Blacksburg.
Frazier’s coaching résumé also includes a seven-year stint as an assistant at Kansas State (2012–2019), where he coached during one of the program’s strongest eras, helping lead to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and Big 12 titles. His playing career was at Illinois (2005–2009), where he was a two-time captain, earned All-Defensive Team honors, and still ranks among Illinois’ career assist leaders. Frazier has also played professionally in Germany and began his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at Illinois.
