Charlton Young
Associate Coach
Charlton “C.Y.” Young is a veteran collegiate basketball coach with nearly three decades of Division I experience, currently serving as an associate coach for the University of Miami men’s basketball program. He joined the Hurricanes in April 2025, bringing with him a long track record of success at the high-major level. Over 29 seasons as a coach, Young has been part of nine NCAA Tournament teams, two regular-season conference championships, and the development of 15 NBA Draft picks. Most recently, he served as associate head coach at the University of Missouri, where he helped guide the Tigers to two NCAA Tournament appearances in three seasons and two 20-win campaigns, including a 25-win season in 2022–23, the program’s highest total in more than a decade.
Young is well known within the Atlantic Coast Conference from his nine seasons on Leonard Hamilton’s staff at Florida State from 2013 to 2022. During that stretch, the Seminoles won the 2020 ACC regular-season title, made three Sweet Sixteen appearances, and reached the Elite Eight for the first time in 25 years. Recognized as an elite recruiter, Young helped Florida State sign eight consecutive top-10 recruiting classes, contributing to the development of future NBA standouts such as Scottie Barnes, Patrick Williams, Devin Vassell, and Malik Beasley. Prior to Florida State, Young also served as head coach at Georgia Southern and held assistant coaching roles at Georgia Tech, Auburn, and several other Division I programs. A former standout player at Georgia Southern, Young remains deeply connected to the game through both coaching excellence and a strong family basketball legacy.
