Casey Dunn
Head Coach
Casey Dunn was named the sixth head coach in UAB baseball history on June 23, 2021, and enters his fifth season leading the Blazers in 2026. Since taking over the program, Dunn has guided UAB to steady progress, including a winning season in 2022—its first since 2015—and multiple All-Conference selections across Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference. The 2025 season featured five All-Conference honorees, highlighted by Todd Clay earning Co-Newcomer Position Player of the Year recognition. Dunn has emphasized player development and competitive growth as UAB transitions and competes at a high level within its conference.
Dunn arrived in Birmingham after a highly successful 18-year tenure as head coach at Samford, where he became the program’s all-time winningest coach with a 533-422 record and led the Bulldogs to three NCAA Tournament appearances. His teams captured three Southern Conference Tournament titles and earned a regular-season championship in 2019, a year in which he was named SoCon Coach of the Year. Across his career, Dunn has coached numerous all-conference performers and multiple MLB Draft selections, including first-round picks. A former All-American catcher at Auburn, Dunn played professionally in the Kansas City Royals organization before entering coaching. He holds a degree from Auburn and is married to Marty Goldthorp; they have two children, Sam and Linlee.
