Carolyn Carrera joined the University of Oregon women’s lacrosse program as an assistant coach in July 2023, bringing elite defensive expertise and recent high-level playing experience to the Ducks. In her first two seasons on staff, she has played a key role in strengthening Oregon’s defensive identity, helping the team achieve back-to-back winning records at home and successfully transition into Big Ten competition. Carrera has been instrumental in player development, including guiding key positional changes and contributing to a unit that consistently limited opponents’ scoring and forced turnovers at a high rate.
Before entering coaching, Carrera was a standout defender at the University of Vermont, where she played under head coach Jessica Drummond. She earned America East Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2023 and was a two-time first-team all-conference selection. As a senior, she ranked among the national leaders in caused turnovers and ground balls, earning All-America honorable mention recognition. Carrera finished her collegiate career as Vermont’s all-time leader in caused turnovers and set both school and conference single-season records. In addition to her collegiate accomplishments, she has competed internationally, representing the Philippines and helping the team win gold at the Asia-Pacific Women’s Lacrosse Championship, securing a historic World Championship berth.
