Carley Kuhns is an assistant coach and offensive specialist for the University of Maryland women's basketball program in College Park, Maryland, a position she joined in the spring of 2025. She arrived at Maryland after six seasons as the head coach at Samford, where she established one of the most successful runs in program history. Samford won two Southern Conference championships under her direction and advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice. Kuhns was named the Southern Conference Coach of the Year in both 2020 and 2021.
Kuhns made an immediate impact at Samford in 2019-20. After the team had won 10 games the previous season and was picked seventh in the conference preseason poll, she led the Bulldogs to an 18-14 record, a share of the Southern Conference regular-season title, and the first regular-season conference championship in school history. Samford also captured the SoCon Tournament title that year, only the third conference tournament championship for the program, and earned the league's automatic NCAA Tournament berth. Her tenure there concluded with two conference titles and two NCAA appearances across six seasons.
