Carla Berube
Head Coach
Carla Berube has established Princeton women’s basketball as one of the nation’s most consistent and accomplished programs since taking over as head coach in 2019. Entering her seventh season in 2025–26, Berube has guided the Tigers to multiple Ivy League championships, Ivy League Tournament titles, and repeated NCAA Tournament appearances, including advancing to the second round on multiple occasions. Under her leadership, Princeton has posted a dominant record in Ivy League play and earned national recognition through strong NET rankings, top-25 victories, and at-large NCAA bids. Her teams have produced All-Americans, Ivy League Players of the Year, Defensive Players of the Year, and Rookie of the Year honorees, reflecting both competitive success and player development.
Before arriving at Princeton, Berube spent 17 seasons as head coach at Tufts University, where she built a Division III powerhouse with a .800 career winning percentage, multiple Final Four appearances, and two trips to the national championship game. She was named the 2015 Pat Summitt Trophy winner as the Division III National Coach of the Year and earned numerous regional and conference coaching honors. A former standout player at UConn, Berube was part of the Huskies’ 1995 national championship team and four Big East championship squads before playing professionally. She has also coached with USA Basketball, winning gold medals with the U.S. Under-16 and Under-17 national teams. Berube’s career reflects sustained excellence as a player, coach, and leader at every level of the sport.
