Cameron Fertenbaugh is an assistant coach for Georgetown women’s soccer in Washington, D.C., where he joined the staff in 2023 and leads the program’s goalkeeper group. Since arriving on the Hilltop, he has helped Georgetown continue one of the strongest runs in program history. In 2025, the Hoyas posted a 16-3-3 record, reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, and recorded the program’s 19th consecutive 10-win season. Under his direction, Cara Martin was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors. Martin also led the nation in goals-against average at 0.26 while appearing in 21 matches and playing more than 1,000 minutes in goal. Her 2024 season also brought ECAC Defensive Player of the Year recognition. Fertenbaugh also made an immediate impact in his first season at Georgetown. In 2023, the Hoyas went 13-2-7, advanced to their eighth consecutive BIG EAST title game, and won their fourth straight conference championship and seventh in eight years. Goalkeeper Allie Augur earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors and All-East Region Second Team recognition after posting a 13-1-5 record with a 0.47 goals-against average, while Georgetown finished the season with a 0.59 team goals-against average. Before Georgetown, Fertenbaugh spent four seasons at Florida Atlantic, where he coached several accomplished goalkeepers. In 2022, the Owls went 11-8-3 and reached the Conference USA finals. In 2021, he coached freshman Amit Cohen to a 0.97 goals-against average, the eighth-best single-season mark in program history, along with 70 saves and a.787 save percentage.
During the 2020-21 spring season, Cohen and Cassidy Wasdin each earned C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week honors, Cohen made the C-USA All-Freshman Team, Wasdin was named to the C-USA All-Academic squad, and the two combined for five shutouts while allowing a 1.22 goals-against average. In 2019, Florida Atlantic won a second straight C-USA regular-season title and finished with 15 victories, one of the best totals in school history. Wasdin earned All-Freshman and All-C-USA Second Team honors, posted a 1.11 goals-against average, and recorded five shutouts while being named C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week four times. In Fertenbaugh’s first season with the Owls, the team went 12-8-1, shared the C-USA regular-season title, and got strong goalkeeper play from Jennifer Ocampo and Brianna Waggoner, who combined for six conference shutouts while allowing only five league goals. Ocampo earned Second Team All-C-USA honors, ranked second in the conference with seven shutouts and fourth with 81 saves, and was twice selected as C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week. Before his time at Florida Atlantic, Fertenbaugh was part of the women’s soccer staff at Penn State during a season in which the Nittany Lions went 15-5-4, won the Big Ten Tournament, advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals, and finished No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. He has also served as goalkeeping staff coach and scout for the Region 1 Olympic Development Program since 2016. His additional coaching experience includes Lancaster Inferno, Mountain District Union of the Centre State Association, Elite Soccer, Keystone FC, York College of Pennsylvania, and Mallard Creek High School, where he was named Mecklenburg District Assistant Coach of the Year. Before entering coaching, Fertenbaugh played professionally for the Harrisburg Heat of the Major Arena Soccer League. He also earned 2008 USCAA All-America honors at Penn State Beaver, was named PSUAC All-Conference and All-Academic the year before, and helped the Penn State Soccer Club reach the national quarterfinals in 2009. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Penn State and holds multiple coaching credentials, including a USSF D license and an NSCAA advanced national goalkeeper diploma.
