Caitlin Schweihofer
Head Coach
Caitlin Schweihofer is the head coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights women’s volleyball program and will enter her seventh season at the helm in 2026 after being named to the position on January 15, 2020. Since arriving in Piscataway, Schweihofer has overseen one of the most transformative eras in program history, guiding Rutgers to numerous program and Big Ten firsts while steadily elevating the team’s national profile. Her tenure has been marked by consistent competitive growth, record-setting performances, and unprecedented fan engagement, including record-breaking attendance figures at Jersey Mike’s Arena. Under her leadership, Rutgers has produced its first All-Big Ten honorees, established rally-era records across multiple statistical categories, and achieved landmark wins over top-ranked Big Ten opponents.
Schweihofer’s impact has extended across every phase of the program’s development, from on-court performance to facilities, visibility, and long-term culture. Prior to Rutgers, she served as head coach at Northeastern and La Salle, where she earned Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors in 2018 after leading La Salle to its first-ever A-10 Tournament appearance. Her coaching résumé also includes assistant coaching roles at Lehigh and Bucknell, along with head coaching experience at the high school level. A former standout student-athlete at St. John’s University, Schweihofer was the 2006 Big East Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and helped lead the Red Storm to a Big East Championship. She holds a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s and a master’s degree from Lehigh University, and is widely respected for her leadership, program-building ability, and commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
