Caitlin Foley is an assistant coach for American University men's and women's swimming and diving in Washington, D.C. She joined the program for the 2023-24 season after coaching at The Catholic University of America. At Catholic, Foley helped the men's team win two conference championships and coached a swimmer who qualified for the 2022 Division III NCAA Championships. She also helped guide the women's team to one conference title and one runner-up conference finish. During that period, she completed a master's degree in management and leadership.
Foley began her collegiate coaching career at Middlebury College, where she helped one athlete qualify for the 2020 Division III National Championships and assisted two relay teams in reaching NCAA B-cut standards. She also worked at Kenyon's Total Performance Swim Camp as assistant director of the Competitive Stroke Camp. Foley was a standout swimmer at Kenyon College, graduating in 2019 after specializing in backstroke, freestyle, and individual medley. She served as team captain as a senior, qualified for the NCAA Championships in each of her four seasons, and helped Kenyon post three national runner-up finishes and one third-place team result. Foley earned six All-America honors during her career, including swimming the lead leg on the winning 400 medley relay at the 2018 NCAA Championships. In the classroom, she was a four-time CSCAA Academic All-American and graduated with a degree in psychology.
