Assistant Volleyball Coach
Caitlin Churney embarked on her coaching career at Johns Hopkins in March 2025, stepping into the role of Assistant Volleyball Coach after concluding a successful playing career at Loyola Maryland. While at Loyola, Churney appeared in 82 matches and 279 sets, primarily playing as a middle blocker. She compiled over 500 career kills and added 173 blocks, achieving a personal best season in 2024 with 185 kills and 47 blocks. Churney also captained the team and helped lead Loyola to a Patriot League semifinal appearance during her junior year.
Academically, Churney graduated from Loyola with dual certifications in elementary and special education, and she is now pursuing a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with a focus on social justice. Her transition from player to coach brings to Hopkins not only experience on the court but also a dedication to mentorship and educational leadership.
