Bryan Hodgson
Head Coach
Bryan Hodgson (born April 11, 1987) is an American collegiate basketball coach and the head men’s basketball coach at the University of South Florida, a position he assumed on March 24, 2025. He is widely regarded as one of the nation’s top recruiters and up-and-coming head coaches, bringing over 18 years of coaching experience to the Bulls program. Before arriving in Tampa, Hodgson spent two highly successful seasons as the head coach at Arkansas State, where he engineered one of the most dramatic program turnarounds in recent memory — guiding the Red Wolves to back-to-back 20-win seasons, a Sun Belt regular-season title, and the team’s first National Invitation Tournament berth in more than three decades. His 2024–25 squad finished with a program-best 25-11 record and ranked among the nation’s top offensive teams.
Prior to Arkansas State, Hodgson served as a key assistant coach under Nate Oats at both the University of Alabama (2019–2023) and the University at Buffalo (2015–2019). At Alabama, he helped secure nationally ranked recruiting classes each year and contributed to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and Southeastern Conference titles. At Buffalo, he was instrumental in three NCAA Tournament berths and conference championships. Hodgson began his coaching career at the junior college and Division III levels, gradually progressing through the collegiate ranks with roles at Fredonia State, Jamestown CC, and Midland College. A Western New York native, he overcame a challenging childhood in foster care to become a mentor for at-risk youth and the founder of Coaching Love Inc., a nonprofit focused on supporting foster and adopted children through sports. Hodgson holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a master’s in education, and he lives in Tampa with his fiancée, Jordan, and their son.
