Briona Brown
Recruiting Coordinator
Briona Brown enters her first season at Alabama A&M University as the Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach for the women’s basketball program. She joins head coach Dawn Thornton’s staff after spending the previous three seasons at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, where she played an integral role in player development, recruiting coordination, academic oversight, and defensive game planning. At UAPB, Brown oversaw skill development for position players, coordinated camps and recruiting efforts, and helped structure official visits and social media engagement. During her tenure, multiple Golden Lions earned All-SWAC honors, including Zaay Green, the conference’s Newcomer of the Year and a First Team selection, along with Coriah Beck, Maori Davenport, and Maya Peat, who became the program’s all-time leading rebounder.
Prior to UAPB, Brown served three seasons as an assistant coach at Jacksonville University and two seasons as a graduate assistant at Warner University, focusing on post player development and academic progress. A standout student-athlete at Jacksonville from 2012-16, Brown earned back-to-back ASUN All-Tournament Team honors and was a 2016 All-ASUN Second Team selection. She helped lead the Dolphins to the 2016 ASUN Tournament Championship and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance. Brown ranks among Jacksonville’s all-time leaders in points, rebounds, blocks, and steals. Following her collegiate career, she played professionally overseas in the Czech Republic. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Jacksonville in 2016 and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Warner in 2017.
