Brian Pensky
Head Coach
Brian Pensky is currently in his fourth season as the head coach of the Florida State Seminoles women’s soccer program (as of 2025). In those first three seasons, he has led FSU to numerous successes, including a national championship in 2023, multiple ACC regular season and tournament titles, and an undefeated season in school history — achievements that contributed to his staff being named the 2023 National Coaching Staff of the Year. Under his leadership, FSU has maintained an extremely strong win percentage; in Tallahassee alone, Pensky posted a 54-5-8 record in his first three seasons. Before arriving at Florida State, Pensky had a long and notable coaching career. He served as head coach at Maryland from 2005 to 2011, where he earned 2010 National Coach of the Year honors, and then led Tennessee from 2012 to 2021, where he was named SEC Coach of the Year in 2021. His total head coaching record across his career stands at 239-116-53. In addition, earlier in his career he held assistant coaching roles with George Washington, Loyola, and the Maryland men’s program, helping those teams achieve success in NCAA tournaments. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Emory University and holds several soccer coaching credentials including a U.S. Soccer “A” license, NSCAA Premier, and NSCAA goalkeeping diploma.
