Brent Darnell is an assistant coach for the Boston College men's ice hockey program in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and enters his third season on the staff in 2025-26 after joining before the 2023-24 season. He arrived at Boston College from USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, where he was assistant director of player personnel and also spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Under-17 and Under-18 teams.
Darnell made his IIHF coaching debut as an assistant coach for the United States at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Switzerland, helping the team win the gold medal. Before his time with USA Hockey, he served as senior director of education for College Hockey, Inc. A native of Canton, Michigan, he played four seasons at Michigan State, appearing in 137 games, graduated in 2015, and later played professionally for the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors.
