Brendan Smith
Assistant Coach / Recruiting Coordinator
Brendan Smith is an assistant baseball coach and the recruiting coordinator for the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks, joining the program in December 2023 under head coach Kristaps Aldins. In this role, Smith contributes to both on-field coaching and the strategic recruitment of student-athletes for the Division III baseball program in Hoboken, New Jersey. Prior to his arrival at Stevens, Smith gained practical coaching experience as an assistant at Somers High School and within the Taconic Rangers travel baseball organization, where he worked with young players on skill development and competitive preparation.
A native of Purdys, New York, Smith brings a diverse baseball background to Stevens. As a collegiate athlete, he competed for both the State University of New York at Albany and Iona College, accumulating five pitching victories and demonstrating strong strikeout ability across 43 appearances (including 16 starts). Before his Division I tenure, he pitched at Dean College in the NJCAA, where he posted a 4-4 record with a 3.93 earned-run average. Following his college career, Smith gained professional experience with four independent league teams, most recently with the Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League. Academically, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in rhetoric and communication (SUNY Albany, 2019) and a master’s degree in sports communication and media (Iona, 2021), which included an advanced certificate in cybercrime and prevention.
