Brenda Frese is the head women's basketball coach at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, where she has led the program for 24 years. A two-time National Coach of the Year, she took over a team that won 10 games in her first season and built it into a national power, highlighted by the 2006 NCAA championship.
Under Frese, Maryland has produced 23 winning seasons, 20 seasons with at least 20 victories, seven 30-win seasons and 22 NCAA Tournament appearances. Her teams have reached at least the second round of the tournament 20 times, advancing to 12 Sweet Sixteens, seven Elite Eights and three Final Fours. Maryland has also won 14 conference titles during her tenure and finished in the top four of its league 19 times.
