BreLynn Nasypany-Cicero is the head coach of Rensselaer women’s soccer in Troy, New York. She was named to the position in June 2016 and quickly led the Engineers to one of the strongest seasons in program history. In her first year, RPI advanced to the Liberty League Tournament championship game for the first time, finished 14-5-1 with the third-most wins in a single season, and placed seven student-athletes on the all-league teams, with three earning all-region recognition. Over the next two seasons, the Engineers won 13 games and returned to the conference tournament in each campaign. During that stretch, six players earned All-Liberty League recognition, including 2018 Rookie of the Year Whitney Wisnom, and three players picked up all-region honors. In 2019, Wisnom was a first-team all-league selection as RPI won eight games and added two ties while again reaching the conference tournament. Before coming to RPI, Nasypany-Cicero was the head coach at Mount Saint Mary College from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, she led the Knights to a 15-9-2 overall record and a 9-1 conference mark, earning Skyline Conference Coach of the Year honors.
Her teams also reached the conference finals in both 2014 and 2015, and she coached 23 Academic Honor Roll selections. During her tenure, two players earned all-region recognition, one was named Skyline Conference Player of the Year, 12 collected all-conference honors, and one earned CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition. Earlier, Nasypany-Cicero spent three seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, William Smith, from 2011 to 2014. That period included the 2013 NCAA championship season, when the team went 23-1-0, won the Liberty League title, and earned both NCAA and Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors. She also served as the junior varsity head coach and as an admissions information technology coordinator. As a player at William Smith, Nasypany-Cicero was a four-year standout who totaled 53 goals and 32 assists for 138 points in 85 career games. She was a first-team All-Liberty League selection in all four seasons, the 2007 Rookie of the Year, a two-time ECAC Player of the Year, a Liberty League Player of the Year, a first-team NSCAA All-American, and a three-time first-team all-region honoree. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in psychology and a minor in child advocacy and later earned a master’s degree in sports science from the United States Sports Academy. She lives in Troy with her wife Christie and their son, Shay.
