Brayde Hirai enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Central Washington University baseball program, continuing his transition from student-athlete to coach within the Wildcats organization. A former pitcher for CWU, Hirai appeared in 31 games during his collegiate career, compiling a 7–12 record over more than 140 innings pitched. He recorded 85 strikeouts and contributed both as a starter and in relief, gaining valuable on-field experience that now informs his coaching approach and ability to mentor pitchers.
Before transferring to Central Washington, Hirai played at Walla Walla Community College, where he developed as a reliable arm on the mound. Over two seasons, he made 13 appearances and recorded 67 strikeouts across 59.1 innings pitched. His progression from junior college to NCAA Division II competition reflects a steady development path that now translates into his coaching role. As an assistant coach, Hirai supports player development and pitching instruction while contributing to the overall growth of the Wildcats program under long-time head coach Desi Storey.
