Brandin Knight
Associate Head Coach
Brandin Knight is an accomplished college basketball coach serving as the Associate Head Coach for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights men’s basketball team. Entering his fifth season in that role in 2025–26 and his tenth overall with the program, Knight has been a key figure in Rutgers’ resurgence under head coach Steve Pikiell. A New Jersey native, he has amassed 12 NCAA Tournament appearances across his career—ten as a coach and two as a standout player at the University of Pittsburgh—along with four trips to the Sweet Sixteen. At Rutgers, Knight has played a critical role in recruiting and developing NBA-caliber talent including Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey, Clifford Omoruyi, and Ron Harper Jr., and he was instrumental in assembling the highest-ranked recruiting class in school history in 2024–25. His coaching influence extends beyond recruiting to game planning, opponent scouting, and the development of guards and perimeter players, contributing to some of Rutgers’ most successful seasons in program history.
Before joining Rutgers in 2016, Knight enjoyed a successful coaching tenure at the University of Pittsburgh, where he served in multiple roles from 2006 to 2016, helping lead the Panthers to consistent postseason appearances, including NCAA Tournament berths and Big East championships. As a player at Pittsburgh from 1999–2003, Knight was one of the nation’s top point guards, earning All-American honors, setting school records for assists and steals, and ultimately having his No. 20 jersey retired. He later played professionally in the NBDL and briefly with the Houston Rockets before transitioning into coaching. Known as one of college basketball’s rising coaching talents, Knight was named to The Athletic’s “40 Under 40: Rising Stars” list in 2020, reflecting his reputation as a high-level recruiter and teacher of the game.
