Bob Thurnhoffer is the assistant coach for jumps for the University of Louisville track and field and cross country program in Louisville, Kentucky, a position he joined on July 31, 2023, and entered his third season in 2025-26. At Louisville, he has directed a jumps group that has produced an NCAA champion, eight USTFCCCA All-Americans, 13 NCAA Championships qualifiers, four ACC individual champions, 29 All-ACC selections, 28 NCAA East First Round qualifiers, an ACC Performer of the Year, and a USTFCCCA Southeast Regional Performer of the Year. He was recognized as the USTFCCCA Southeast Regional Women's Outdoor Assistant Coach of the Year in 2025.
His Louisville athletes made a strong impact immediately. In his first indoor season, Trey Allen and Brion Stephens earned second-team All-America honors in the men's high jump, and Louisville collected first-team All-ACC finishes from Allen, Alba Cuns Iglesias, Stephens, and Jeremiah Willis. During the 2024 outdoor season, Jake Burkey, Soledad Jean, and Stephens qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, while the Cardinals also sent 11 jump entries to the NCAA East Regional. That year also included a freshman record in the women's triple jump by Sophia Day and top-five national event squad finishes in the men's long jump, women's triple jump, and men's triple jump.
